 Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, everybody! This year is our first year without us taking part in the Halloween parade. The parade is later today, and has grades K-5. Grades K-5 get to bring in their costumes and change during the day so they can participate in the parade. After the parade, even the middle school gets their own party with their class. Since its our first year without the parade we have tons to look forward to. 6th-8th grade are allowed to watch the parade. Our parties are filled up with candy, drinks, and fun activities. The best part is, we have the day off after Halloween because of All Saints Day. FINALLY! Today, we will also go to pick out our book report books for quarter 2's book report. We'll keep you updated. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Mrs. Fetters' L.A class has recently finished our first book report. The theme was a suspenseful or mysterious book. We got to choose our own books from our school library or one from home that we had in mind.  Our book report consisted of a three paragraph summary, a four to five sentence character description, and  a two to three sentence book recommendation.  The books that we chose were Endangered by Eliot Schrefer, Stolen Children by Peg Kehret, Poisoned House by Michael Ford, and Coraline by Neil Gaiman. We personally enjoyed these books for their scary cover and how they captured the reader. These stories were amazing and we strongly recommend them.

                                      Mrs. Fetters' L.A. Class

We all loved the amazing and thrilling novel called Number the stars By Lois Lowry. This novel is about a young girl named Annemarie who helps her best friend, Ellen, escape from Nazi-occupied Denmark. Our class loved this book for its suspense and heart. we have currently finished this book and we will read many other books during this school year.
We also take part in the Scholastic reading club. Once a month, we get catalogs full of different books for great prices. These catalogs also include the top selling books for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
Every Monday we have a vocab unit due. This includes twenty words in each section. We have to complete each section by the following Monday. The Monday after, we have a quiz on the twenty vocab  words. This section includes, choosing the right words, synonyms, antonyms, and completing the sentence. For the tests we have to know definitions, synonyms, and antonyms.
We have another book for L.A which is our grammar workbook. in includes many different lessons on parts of speech and vocabulary in text. almost every night we have a page in this workbook. We also use our workbook as journals and record important pieces of information about grammar lessons.
